1. Texas A&M (9-0,6-0)
Last Week’s Ranking: 1 (W @ Missouri 38-17)
This Week: vs. South Carolina
Bottom Line: The scoreboard does not accurately reflect how bad the Aggies beat Mizzou last Saturday night in COMO. Expect A&M to get revenge on Carolina this week for what took place last year.
2. Alabama (8-1, 6-0)
Last Week’s Ranking: 2 (W vs. LSU 20-9)
This Week: vs. Oklahoma
Bottom Line: Headlines this week are all about how the Tide can not run the ball and that is a definite cause for concern. They match up well with an average Sooner secondary this week regardless.
3. Georgia (8-1,6-1)
Last Week’s Ranking: 3 (W @ Mississippi State 41-21)
This Week: vs. Texas
Bottom Line: As many questions as there were early in the year about the UGA offense they sure seem to be rolling now. Stockton has weapons all around him and the offensive line seems to have shored up.
4. Ole Miss (9-1,5-1)
Last Week’s Ranking: 4 (W vs. The Citadel 49-0)
This Week: vs. Florida
Bottom Line: The Rebels are right in the middle of the playoff hunt and control their destiny regarding that. A lot of buzz will surround Lane Kiffin and his whereabouts for next year with the Gators in town.
5. Texas (7-2,4-1)
Last Week’s Ranking: 5 (BYE)
This Week: @ Georgia
Bottom Line: The Horns have everything right in front of them with matchups left against Georgia and A&M. Win both and they are in the playoff.
6. Oklahoma (7-2,3-2)
Last Week’s Ranking: 6 (BYE)
This Week: @ Alabama
Bottom Line: Oklahoma is still in the playoff hunt as well. Figure out a way to pull out a win in Tuscaloosa and there is a decent chance. Can they limit the dynamic Bama WR room?
7. Vanderbilt (8-2,4-2) Last Week’s Ranking: 7 (W vs. Auburn, 45-38OT) This Week: BYE Bottom Line: Diego had a DAY last week as Auburn showed life for seemingly the first time all year. UK and Tennessee follow the bye week.
8. Tennessee (6-3,3-3)
Last Week’s Ranking: 8 (BYE)
This Week: vs. New Mexico State
Bottom Line: Can Josh Heupel have the Vols ready to play a G5 opponent in November now that they are basically eliminated from playoff contention?
9. Missouri (6-3,2-3)
Last Week’s Ranking: 9 (L vs. Texas A&M 38-17))
This Week: vs. Mississippi State
Bottom Line: Much like the question mentioned above, Can Drinkwitz motivate Missouri to play behind a 3rd string QB now that they are eliminated from playoff contention and his name appears on every coaching board in the country?
10. LSU (5-4,2-4)
Last Week’s Ranking: 10 (L @ Alabama 20-9)
This Week: vs. Arkansas
Bottom Line: Doom and gloom continue in Baton Rouge and would only get glaringly worse with a loss this week. Can the Tigers score with Arkansas?
11. Kentucky (4-5,2-5)
Last Week’s Ranking: 14 (W vs. Florida, 38-7)
This Week: vs. Tennessee Tech
Bottom Line: What a job down the stretch by Mark Stoops. Total domination of Florida in Lexington last week.
12. Auburn (4-6, 1-6)
Last Week’s Ranking: 15 (L @ Vanderbilt 45-38 OT)
This Week: BYE
Bottom Line: For everything DJ Durkin did to get the offense playing with a pulse the defense lost theirs last week. With that said, it was nice to see the Tigers finally utilize their stash of weapons at wideout.
13. Florida (3-6,2-4)
Last Week’s Ranking: 11 (L @ Kentucky, 38-7)
This Week: @ Ole Miss
Bottom Line: The Gators looked completely and totally checked out last week and are probably about to mail it in for the year.
14. Mississippi State (5-5, 1-5)
Last Week’s Ranking: 12 (L vs. Georgia 41-21)
This Week: @ Missouri
Bottom Line: State looked out-classed at every single position on the field for the first time all year. The offensive line is banged up and quite frankly really bad.
15. South Carolina (3-6, 1-6)
Last Week’s Ranking: 13 (BYE)
This Week: @ Texas A&M
Bottom Line: Much like mentioned earlier with Florida, can Beamer motivate these guys to play at this point? With that said, the offense has not looked ready to play since week one.
16. Arkansas (2-7,0-5)
Last Week’s Ranking: 16 (BYE)
This Week: @LSU
Bottom Line: I would not be surprised in the least to see the Hogs simply outscore LSU this week.
