1. Texas A&M (8-0,5-0)
Last Week’s Ranking: 1 (W @ LSU 49-25)

This Week: BYE

Bottom Line: The Aggies officially sent Brian Kelly packing in Baton Rouge in a complete beatdown last Saturday night. There are still some minor questions about A&M defensively but if you haven’t bought stock in them it is time.

2. Alabama (7-1, 5-0)
Last Week’s Ranking: 2 (W @ South Carolina, 29-22)

This Week: BYE

Bottom Line: It was not pretty but when the going got tough in the 4th quarter in Columbia last week the Crimson Tide rose to the occasion. Bama is ready for the bye week.

3. Georgia (6-1,4-1)
Last Week’s Ranking: 3 (BYE)

This Week: vs. Florida (Jacksonville)

Bottom Line: We are at week 10 and still have not seen Kirby’s Dawgs put together a complete four quarters. Who is Georgia on defense? We still do not know.

4. Ole Miss (7-1,4-1)
Last Week’s Ranking: 4 (W @ Oklahoma, 34-26)

This Week: vs. South Carolina

Bottom Line: What a weird game in Norman last week. The Rebel’s got the elusive ranked SEC road win and now are firmly in control of their own destiny. The league’s softest schedule sets up nicely down the stretch.

5. Vanderbilt (7-1,3-1)
Last Week’s Ranking: 5 (W vs. Missouri, 17-10)

This Week: @ Texas

Bottom Line: They are legit. I was not anticipating having to say that but here we are. If Pavia and company pull off the W this week in Austin the Dores will look to potentially be playoff bound.

6. Tennessee (6-2,3-2)
Last Week’s Ranking: 8 (W vs. Kentucky, 56-34)

This Week: vs. Oklahoma

Bottom Line: More of the same for the Vols last week. The offense could not be stopped, and the defense couldn’t stop anybody. This week’s matchup in Neyland is a matchup of complete opposites.

7. Oklahoma (6-2,2-2)
Last Week’s Ranking: 6 (L vs. Ole Miss, 34-26)

This Week: @ Tennessee

Bottom Line: The Sooner defense was exposed last week by Trinidad Chambliss and the Rebels. With a loss this week could Brent Venables seat get hot?

8. Texas (6-2,3-1)

Last Week’s Ranking: 10 (W @ Mississippi State, 45-38 OT)

This Week: vs. Vanderbilt

Bottom Line: Under no circumstance should the Longhorns have come back and won in Starkville last week, but they did. Did they find something offensively in the 4th quarter? Arch’s health is now a concern, but the burnt orange controls its own destiny.

9. Missouri (6-2,2-2)
Last Week’s Ranking: 7 (L at Vanderbilt, 17-10)

This Week: BYE

Bottom Line: The injury bug continues to bite the Tigers in the worst of ways as it looks like they will be down to QB3 for the rest of the way.

10. LSU (5-3,2-3)
Last Week’s Ranking: 9 (L vs. Texas A&M, 49-25)

This Week: BYE

Bottom Line: Brian Kelly is out for the Tigers after a total embarrassment at home last week. The bye week comes at the perfect time before a big matchup with Bama next week.

11. South Carolina (3-5,1-5)
Last Week’s Ranking: 12 (L vs. Alabama, 29-22)

This Week: @ Ole Miss

Bottom Line: Carolina had Bama nervous but could not hold on down the stretch at home last week. Can they play with Ole Miss on the road this Saturday? The talent is there but the resume tells us no.

12. Florida (3-4, 2-2)
Last Week’s Ranking: 12 (BYE)

This Week: vs. Georgia (Jacksonville)

Bottom Line: Can the Gators shake things up with Georgia under an interim head coach? I assume crazier things have happened.

13. Auburn (4-4,1-4)
Last Week’s Ranking: 13 (W @ Arkansas, 33-24)

This Week: vs. Kentucky

Bottom Line: We appear to officially have a QB controversary on our hands on the Plains. Alex McPhearson kicked the Tigers to victory with 6 FG’s last week at Arkansas.

14. Mississippi State (4-4, 0-4)
Last Week’s Ranking: 15 (L vs. Texas 45-38 OT)

This Week: @ Arkansas

Bottom Line: This team simply does not know how to win late in ballgames. If they don’t figure it out this week they are staring 0-8 right in the SEC in the face again.

15. Arkansas (2-6, 0-4)
Last Week’s Ranking: 14 (L vs. Auburn, 33-24)

This Week: vs. Mississippi State

Bottom Line: When Taylen Green does not play well the Hogs do not stand a chance and last week Green was not good.

16. Kentucky (2-5,0-5)
Last Week’s Ranking: 16 (L vs. Tennessee 56-34)

This Week: @ Auburn

Bottom Line: Right when the Cats figure out a way to score points the defense takes the night off. How they compete this week at Auburn will say a lot about the future of Mark Stoops in Lexington.
