1. Texas A&M (7-0,4-0)
Last Week’s Ranking: 1 (W @ Arkansas 45-42)

This Week: @ LSU

Bottom Line: Is the A&M defense somewhat a concern? They were extremely average last week. The Aggies appear to be rolling but many a season has taken a wrong turn at night in Death Valley.

2. Alabama (6-1, 4-0)
Last Week’s Ranking: 3 (W vs. Tennessee, 37-20)

This Week: @ South Carolina

Bottom Line: The season opening loss at Florida State definitely looks like an anomaly for the Tide. Total beat down of Tennessee last week.

3. Georgia (6-1,4-1)
Last Week’s Ranking: 4 (W vs. Ole Miss, 43-35)

This Week: BYE

Bottom Line: Gunner Stockton proved last week that he can take over a game and win it. The Dawg defense could not have been worse for 3 quarters and then could not have been better for the 4th quarter.

4. Ole Miss (6-1,3-1)
Last Week’s Ranking: 2 (L at Georgia, 43-35)

This Week: at Oklahoma

Bottom Line: Much like earlier mentioned with Georgia, the Rebel offense could not be stopped, literally, for 3 quarters and then went completely missing in the 4th quarter. The Rebel defense though? Well, it just never showed up period. Another tough road test on deck.

5. Vanderbilt (6-1,2-1)
Last Week’s Ranking: 10 (W vs. LSU, 31-24)

This Week: vs. Missouri

Bottom Line: College GameDay is in Nashville – who would have ever imagined? Does anyone mean more to a football program in America than Diego Pavia?

6. Oklahoma (6-1,2-1)
Last Week’s Ranking: 9 (W at South Carolina, 26-7)

This Week: vs. Ole Miss

Bottom Line: Huge opportunity is on the doorstep for the Sooners at home this weekend. The Oklahoma offense has not looked exactly “right” since John Mateer returned but that defense may be the best in the country.

7. Missouri (6-1,2-1)
Last Week’s Ranking: 6 (W at Auburn, 23-17 2 OT)

This Week: @ Vanderbilt

Bottom Line: What can you say about the Tigers performance last week? They won but it was not pretty whatsoever. Everything is still on the table beginning this week in Nashville.

8. Tennessee (5-2,2-2)
Last Week’s Ranking: 5 (L at Alabama, 37-20)

This Week: @ Kentucky

Bottom Line: Vol fans saw the game turn on a dime with a pick 6 on the final play of the first half last week. Heupel and company have to win out most likely to be in the playoff conversation.

9. LSU (5-2,2-2)
Last Week’s Ranking: 7 (L at Vanderbilt, 31-24)

This Week: vs. Texas A&M

Bottom Line: Is Brian Kelly subtly on the hot seat? Figure out a way to show a pulse consistently on offense, beat A&M and all that talk should calm down.

10. Texas (5-2,2-1)
Last Week’s Ranking: 8 (W at Kentucky, 13-10 OT)

This Week: @ Mississippi State

Bottom Line: Is there any reason to believe in this offense? The Longhorns honestly got lucky last week in Lexington.

11. South Carolina (3-4,1-4)
Last Week’s Ranking: 12 (L vs. Oklahoma, 26-7)

This Week: vs. Alabama

Bottom Line: This is way too high for South Carolina. Incredible to see the struggles of LaNorris Sellers week in and week out.

12. Florida (3-4, 2-2)
Last Week’s Ranking: 13 (W vs. Mississippi State, 23-21)

This Week: BYE

Bottom Line: Billy’s Gators did absolutely everything they could to lose to MSU last week and State simply would not make it happen and then Billy got fired anyway.

13. Auburn (3-4,0-4)
Last Week’s Ranking: 11 (L vs. Missouri, 23-17 2OT)

This Week: @ Arkansas

Bottom Line: The seat has gotten hot quickly for Hugh Freeze on the plains of Auburn. The offense is downright atrocious.

14. Arkansas (2-5, 0-3)
Last Week’s Ranking: 15 (L vs. Texas A&M 45-42)

This Week: vs. Auburn

Bottom Line: Much like we thought when Bobby Petrino took over, the Hogs are going to make every game a shootout. Can they ever get a stop?

15. Mississippi State (4-3, 0-3)
Last Week’s Ranking: 14 (L @ Florida, 23-21)

This Week: vs. Texas

Bottom Line: Every opportunity under the sun was there for the Bulldogs in Gainesville last week and they simply let it go. Last play removed, the missed chances all over the field were unbelievable.

16. Kentucky (2-4,0-4)
Last Week’s Ranking: 16 (L vs. Texas 13-10 OT)

This Week: vs. Tennessee

Bottom Line: A valiant effort from the Cats last week came up just short. It will take much more offense to stay in the game this week.
