As Pontotoc and Houston closed the regular season in 2001. Both teams entered at 5-4. The stakes were clear: finish strong and set up the best possible position for the MHSAA 3A playoffs. For Pontotoc, it was also Senior Night for the Class of 2002.
The Warriors leaned on a physical defense and steady offense. Pontotoc aimed to control field position and manage the clock. Home-field energy added to the intensity.
