1. Georgia

Last Week’s Ranking: 1 (BYE)
This Week: vs. Alabama

Bottom Line: A perfectly placed bye week for the Dawgs last week. Will the Crimson Tide continue to be a thorn in Kirby’s side this week?

2. LSU

Last Week’s Ranking: 2 (W vs. Southeastern Louisiana, 56-10)
This Week: @ Ole Miss

Bottom Line: LSU was billed as one of the top teams in the country all summer. Win this week and they are officially off to the races. These two have played some barn burners over the last few years so expect it to get wild.

3. Oklahoma

Last Week’s Ranking: 3 (W vs. Auburn, 24-17)
This Week: BYE

Bottom Line: Sadly last week’s win over Auburn has been largely overshadowed by a couple of officiating snafus. The bye week comes at a great time with the news of QB John Mateer’s injury.

4. Texas A&M

Last Week’s Ranking: 4 (BYE)
This Week: vs. Auburn

Bottom Line: A&M heads into the last weekend of September looking pretty and feeling good about life. Can they contain an Auburn team hunting for a bounce back W at Kyle Field?

5. Tennessee

Last Week’s Ranking: 5 (W vs UAB, 56-24)
This Week: @ Mississippi State

Bottom Line: The Vol offense continues to be greatly impressive. How will they react to their first real road environment in what should be a raucous Davis Wade Stadium? Can the defense get healthy? Plenty of questions to be had.

6. Texas

Last Week’s Ranking: 6 (W vs Sam Houston, 55-0)
This Week: BYE

Bottom Line: The three week Longhorn cupcake palooza finally came to an end on a bright note last week. The defense is proven. The offense is not.

7. Missouri

Last Week’s Ranking: 10 (W vs South Carolina, 29-20)
This Week: vs. UMASS

Bottom Line: The scoreboard does not reflect how bad Missouri beat South Carolina last week. The Tiger running game is legitimately one of the best in the country.

8. Ole Miss

Last Week’s Ranking: 9 (W vs. Tulane, 45-10)
This Week: vs. LSU

Bottom Line: Is there a QB controversy or is there not? It seems like the answer is yes. We finally found out if the Rebels are legit or not this week.

9. Vanderbilt

Last Week’s Ranking: 8 (W vs. Georgia State, 70-21)
This Week: vs. Utah State

Bottom Line: Vandy got their revenge over Georgia State last week and hung a 70 spot in the process. This appears to be the best Vandy team in decades.

10. Auburn

Last Week’s Ranking: 7 (L @ Oklahoma, 24-17)
This Week: @ Texas A&M

Bottom Line: You have to feel for the Tigers who got the short end of the officiating stick in Norman last week. Back to back tough road tests will be telling for Freeze’s bunch.

11. Alabama

Last Week’s Ranking: BYE
This Week: @ Georgia

Bottom Line: It appears that the Tide is getting healthier on both sides of the ball, which is obviously huge. The Tide always seems to have Georgia’s number, winning 9 of the last 10.

12. Mississippi State

Last Week’s Ranking: 12 (W vs. Northern Illinois, 38-10)
This Week: vs. Tennessee

Bottom Line: Competition picks up this week as Tennessee comes to town for the Bulldog’s SEC opener. Can the Bulldogs limit penalties and slow the opponents run game?

13. South Carolina

Last Week’s Ranking: 14 (L @ Missouri, 29-20)
This Week: vs. Kentucky

Bottom Line: LaNorris Sellers was good last week. The rest of the offense was terrible, as they have been for over a month now. If the Gamecocks lose this week things could get ugly.

14. Arkansas

Last Week’s Ranking: 13 (L @ Miami, 26-7)
This Week: vs. Notre Dame

Bottom Line: For the second week in a row the Razorbacks seemingly fumbled the game away late in the 4th quarter. Cool game in Fayetteville hosting Notre Dame this week.

15. Florida

Last Week’s Ranking: 15 (L @ Miami, 26-7)
This Week: BYE

Bottom Line: Completely inept on offense. Billy should take the off week and completely scrap everything they’ve been on that side of the ball for the last month.

16. Kentucky

Last Week’s Ranking: 16 (BYE)
This Week: @ South Carolina

Bottom Line: The Cats are catching a South Carolina team that is reeling and I would not at all be surprised to see an upset on Saturday night.
