  1. LSU

    Last Week’s Ranking: 3 ( W @ Clemson, 17-10)

    This Week: vs. Louisiana Tech

Bottom Line: The national media fell in love with LSU in week one as they won in Clemson’s version of “Death Valley”. Nussmeier looked every bit of the first round NFL draft pick projection he is and the defense was world’s better than a year ago.

  2. Georgia

    Last Week’s Ranking: 2 (W vs. Marshall, 45-7)

    This Week: vs. Austin Peay

Bottom Line: We still are not going to learn much about Georgia this week. The Dogs looked committed to the ground game in week one rushing for nearly 250 yards. That combined with their defense could be scary.

  3. Texas

    Last Week’s Ranking: 1 (L @ Ohio State. 14-7)

This Week: vs. San Jose State

Bottom Line: Week one was massively disappointing for the Horns and
especially Arch Manning who never looked close to comfortable. The defense
looked legit, though, and they will not face a tougher test than they had week one most likely.

  4. South Carolina

    Last Week’s Ranking: 6 (W vs Virginia Tech, 24-11)

    This Week: South Carolina State

Bottom Line: I can only imagine how good it felt to be Shane Beamer postgame after knocking off his father’s old school. The Gamecock’s Nyck Harbor is vastly underrated and is a name to know at wide receiver.

  5. Texas A&M

    Last Week’s Ranking: 5 (W vs UTSA, 42-24)

    This Week: vs. Utah State

Bottom Line: Marcel Reed threw for 4 TD’s and the Aggies took care of
business. Former MSU Wide Receiver Mario Craver was the star of the show
with 8 grabs – 122 yards and a TD thru the air.

  6. Tennessee

    Last Week’s Ranking: 8 (W vs Syracuse, 45-26)

This Week: vs. East Tennessee State

Bottom Line: There were plenty of questions about Tennessee offensively after all the attrition from last year. We are only one week in but Josh Heupel’s group passed with flying colors in the neutral site matchup against the Orange.

  7. Ole Miss

    Last Week’s Ranking: 7 (W vs Georgia State, 63-7)

    This Week: @ Kentucky

Bottom Line: We learned very little about the Rebels in week one. There are still plenty of weapons on offense. Business picks up in the Bluegrass State this
    week. Revenge game???

  8. Auburn

    Last Week’s Ranking: 11 (W @ Baylor, 38-24)

    This Week: vs. Ball State

Bottom Line: The Tigers were impressive on Friday night in Waco. Jackson
Arnold is electric on the ground and it showed as he powered the Auburn rushing attack to 307 rushing yards. The WR talent is there too but at some point he will have to show it with his arm.

  9. Florida

    Last Week’s Ranking: 9 (W vs. LIU, 55-0)

    This Week: vs. South Florida

Bottom Line: Took care of business but did we learn anything at all? Buckle up in week two after USF easily took care of Boise State last week.

  10. Missouri

    Last Week’s Ranking: 10 (W vs. Central Arkansas, 61-6)

    This Week: vs. Kansas

Bottom Line: The QB competition between Pribula and Horn seemed to come to a quick halt in the first half last Thursday night as Horn went down injured. The Tigers went on to take care of business but competition greatly picks up now.

  11. Alabama

    Last Week’s Ranking: 4 ( L @ Florida State, 31-17)

    This Week: UL Monroe

Bottom Line: I cannot tell you the last time I questioned the toughness and
physicality of Alabama, but I am now. The scoreboard does not reflect how
terribly they were dominated. Is it already time to sound the alarm in T-Town?

  1. Oklahoma

    Last Week’s Ranking: 12 (W vs. Illinois State, 35-3)

    This Week: vs. Michigan

Bottom Line: John Mateer was the highlight in week one. Energy around
Norman would really pick up with a good performance again this week.

  2. Arkansas

    Last Week’s Ranking: 13 (W vs. Alabama A&M, 52-7)

    This Week: vs. Arkansas State
Bottom Line: The Hogs impressed in week one but were expected to. This week provides a little more of a test in Little Rock at War Memorial against Arkansas State.

  3. Vanderbilt

    Last Week’s Ranking: 14 ( W vs. Charleston Southern 45-3)

    This Week: @ Virginia Tech

Bottom Line: The Dores held Charleston Southern to 135 total yards in week
one. They’ll now head to Blacksburg to be the second consecutive team from the SEC to see Va Tech on the year.

  4. Mississippi State

    Last Week’s Ranking: 15 (W @ Southern Miss, 34-17)

    This Week: vs. Arizona State

Bottom Line: The defense was much improved in week one for the Bulldogs, but could it have been any worse than last year? Offensive line still has a way to go on the other side of the ball. Biggest game of Jeff Lebby’s young career is on deck.

  5. Kentucky

    Last Week’s Ranking: 15 (W vs. Toledo, 24-16)

    This Week: vs. Ole Miss

Bottom Line: The Cats won but it was not pretty at any point. The run game led by Dante Dowdell was a bright spot. He and Seth McGowan could be a
    dangerous duo in the backfield.
