From the heart of Northeast Mississippi, a new class of leaders in boys’ high school soccer is stepping into the spotlight. These aren’t just solid players. These are game-changers. The ones who lead, score, defend, and win.
While last year’s dominant senior class has moved on, the 2025-26 season is shaping up to be a showcase of reloading talent. New stars are ready to make their mark, hungry to leave a legacy. They’re playing for pride, for scholarships, for state titles—and maybe even a shot at being the best in the state.
Let’s meet the names you need to know.
William Kirstein – Tupelo – Senior – Forward
Tupelo doesn’t rebuild. They reload. And in 7A, the pressure is different. Big crowds. Big moments. Big expectations.
That’s where William Kirstein comes in. The senior forward wears Tupelo’s No. 10 jersey. That says a lot. It means he’s the guy. He’s already proven he belongs after a strong junior campaign. Now he has to take the next step—being the player who scores in the biggest games, the one who puts Tupelo on his back.
Kirstein has one shot left. One more season to carry the Golden Wave toward a championship. He’s not just playing for a title. He’s playing to be remembered.
Jaylen Bailey – Itawamba AHS – Sophomore – Midfielder
If you’re looking for the engine of a team, look no further than Jaylen Bailey. Already a vital piece for Itawamba AHS as a freshman, the rising sophomore is poised to command the pitch with a maturity that belies his age.
Bailey controls the game from the midfield with exceptional vision and a high work rate. He breaks up opposition attacks and seamlessly transitions his team into offense. Coaches praise his soccer IQ, a rare quality for any high school player, let alone an underclassman. With several key players from last year gone, this is Bailey’s team to influence for years to come. Watch for him to dominate the middle of the field and create opportunities for his teammates all season long.
Tupelo’s Junior Fortress – Tupelo – Junior – Defenders
A great offense needs a defense it can trust, and Tupelo has a fortress. Anchoring the Golden Wave’s back line is a trio of junior defenders—Jake Moore, Steele Satterfield, and Caleb Sevilla—who form a defensive unit so formidable they could be called a wall.
After playing significant varsity minutes as sophomores, they now form one of the most cohesive defensive units in the state. They are disciplined, physical, and communicate exceptionally well. While Kirstein hunts for goals, this group ensures the door stays locked behind him. Their development into an elite junior corps is a primary reason Tupelo is a state title contender.
The Watch List
Behind the stars, there’s serious depth in Northeast Mississippi. The region is loaded with proven varsity players and rising talent ready for a breakout season.
Keep an eye on Itawamba AHS senior striker Robert Syas, who will be counted on to be a primary goal-scorer.
Saltillo has a steady presence in junior defender Micah Foster, a cornerstone for the Tigers’ defense.
In goal, Tupelo’s rising senior Finn Konig looks ready to cement his status as a top keeper in the region.
Caledonia will rely heavily on the leadership and skill of senior midfielders Timothy Stout and Carson Thompson to control the tempo of their matches.
