Sources close to the situation say Brian Sutton will be named the new head football coach at North Pontotoc High School.
Sutton is currently an assistant baseball coach and assisant principal at North Pontotoc.
Before moving to Ecru, he was the Nettleton head baseball coach where he led the Tigers to the 1998 Class 2A State Championship.
That year he was named All-Area Coach of the Year for Small Schools, Lee County Coach of the Year, and Mississippi High School Athletics Association Coach of the Year.
As of late Thursday night no official word had been given on Sutton’s hire by NPHS.
Former head coach JJ Plummer left after one season with the Vikings to take over the St Andrews football program earlier this month.
