Class 1A: West Union’s work pays off
JACKSON – An emotional Andy Kirk stood back and smiled as he watched his West Union Lady Eagles celebrated their series-clinching 7-2 win in Game 2 of the Class 1A State Championship series against the West Lincoln Lady Bears.
Kimberly Jumper broke open a 1-1 game with an inside-the-park home run in a two-run sixth inning before West Union put the game on ice when Julianna Garner, Dani Taylor, Claire Wilkerson, and Jessica Gates each singled and scored in the seventh to lift West Union to the Class 1A state title.

Class 2A: Hamilton’s hot hitters master big field
JACKSON – Hamilton entered the 2009 season as Class 2A’s defending North champion. The Lady Lions ended the season as the MHSAA Class 2A state champion.
At VA Fields, Hamilton continued its hot hitting in a sweep of stunned Enterprise, winning 13-4 and 15-2.

Class 3A: Fast or slow, Nettleton is tops
JACKSON – Nettleton entered Saturday’s MHSAA Class 3A state championship series with one loss, a 26-1 mark and a chance to follow May’s fast-pitch state title with a slow-pitch crown.
After a 7-5 Game 1 loss to defending 2A champ Clarkdale, the Lady Tigers pulled it together to even the series with an 8-7 Game 2 win and a 5-3 win to clinch the best-of-three series and state championship at VA Fields.
