NEMS360: Long wait for Houston pays off with playoffs
HOUSTON – Seniors Shelby Whitt and Hanna Wilson didn’t want Houston’s double-header against Shannon on Tuesday to be the last slow-pitch game of their careers.
Whitt reached on a single and scored when Wilson ripped a single down the first-base line to break open a 2-2 game in the top of the third inning as the Lady Toppers rolled to a 12-2 Game 2 victory.
In the first game of the day, Houston picked up a 5-1 win to help secure its spot in postseason play.

Monroe360: Howell HRs help punch Hamilton’s playoff ticket
HAMILTON – In a game that would assure Hamilton of a Class 2A playoff spot or keep Hatley in the race, Hannah Howell made sure the latter didn’t happen.
On senior night, the senior belted two home runs to right field, the second a line drive two-run walk-off shot that ended a 20-10 six-inning win over the Lady Tigers.
