Many Calhoun County sports fans have been walking around with that “junkie itch” trying to find away to get their fill of football – well have no fear fans you can feed your need come Saturday!
Midnight Madness
Calhoun City is not going to waste a minute of their first day of full contact practice – literally.
When the clock strikes midnight the Wildcats will participate in their annual “Midnight Madness.”
“This is something we have done over the past few years and the fans seem to have a real good time with it… I’m looking forward to getting it started myself,” Coach Mike Ray. “We are going to do what we normally do during practice… only this year we will be doing a lot more contact drills than we have in years past.”
Admission is free to the public, but you may want to bring a drink and a bite to eat as concessions are still in question for the event.
Calhoun City will host Eupora on August 22nd for a scrimmage with the time yet to be determined.
Meet the Rams
A few hours after Calhoun City wraps things up at “The Bone Yard” the Vardaman Booster Club will host “Meet the Rams” at the Vardaman Practice Field.
“This is something where we want the fans to bring a tent or just back their trucks up to the field to come watch us scrimmage and see what we got this season,” Coach Justin Hollis.
The team will report at 8:00 a.m. while the official activities begin at 10:00 a.m. The Booster Club will be have drinks and VHS Football merchandise on sale for all the fans in attendance.
Vardaman will host Aberdeen in one of the more exciting pre-season scrimmages on August 22nd with the time also yet to be determined.
The two teams will face off on Thursday, August 28th at 7:30 p.m. in the state’s biggest game where playoff implications are already on the line with it being the season/region opener for both teams.
