Brandon Speck’s cutline will best sums up my first shot of the day.

(right) Adam Gore either shanked his golf ball to the far left or golf makes him have to pee really bad.  Sorry for whoever owns this house at River Birch.

Despite the first shot of the day, it was a great day to be one-fourth of “Team Kollmeyer” in the ICC Football Four-Man Scramble at River Birch Country Club this past Friday.

I did make up for my first shot of the day sinking a long birdie putt on the first hole followed by an even longer eagle putt on the second hold to put us at three under on the first two holes of the day.

The highlight of my day was listening to Kollmeyer and Marlin share stories from the business and meeting fellow Calhoun Countian Mr. Bill Long.  We finished shooting 66 (six under) on 18 holes – two better than Team Terrill.  A score that saved Kollmeyer from a long football season of heckling from the coaching staff.

Thanks to ICC and River Birch Country Club for hosting an outstanding event – one that I hope to be a part of next year.  I also want to encourage everyone to sign up for a unbeatable deal for a round off golf at me new favorite course in North Mississippi.

To cap off my day of golf I spent about two hours hanging out with former Florida State golfer turned country music artist nominated for Top New Male Vocalist at this year’s Academy of Country Music Awards – Jake Owen.

Forgive the red-eye and mesesd up look on my face Cortez Moss caught me off guard when he snapped the picture.

Jake is a real down to earth guy.  Even though I am not much of a fan of country music I enjoyed the show and hanging out with him talking golf, football, and music.

If you get the chance to see him in person I highly suggest doing so and going out and getting his CD.
